Impact of ERGs on Creating A More Inclusive Corporate America

Hosted by Fidelity Investments

As multitudes of major corporations implement racial equality agendas, their leadership teams have become more reliant on Black employee resource groups—or ERGs. In fact, these companies have leaned heavily on such groups to host panels on race, allocate donations to racial justice organizations, and drive new DEI initiatives. Although ERG members embrace heightened visibility and access to top management—including, in some cases, CEOs—some have voiced concern that business leaders must not use these organizations to demonstrate support for diverse employees without seriously addressing underrepresentation of Blacks in the upper ranks. In a one-on-one discussion with Wendy E. John, Fidelity Investment’s Head of Global Diversity & Inclusion, we will explore the unique role of ERGs and how their influence within corporate America can help advance Black executives, businesses, and causes.
